Workplace Training

Our workplace training helps employers understand how to recognise concussion in staff, meet health and safety responsibilities, and support a safe and sustainable return to work.

Programme overview

Concussion doesn’t just impact health – it can disrupt work, productivity, and retention.

Who it’s for:
This training is for any organisation that values staff wellbeing and wants to build a healthy, productive workplace. Whether you’re a large corporate, a mid-sized business, or a not-for-profit, concussion can affect your people – on the job or outside of work.

We work with:

  • People leaders who want to successfully support staff back to work after a concussion
  • Wellness/Wellbeing Teams who want to support a healthy and productive workplace where staff are supported and valued.
  • Health & Safety managers with responsibilities under H&S legislation
  • Organisations in higher-risk sectors (e.g. construction, sport, transport, manufacturing)
  • Any workplace committed to retaining staff, reducing turnover and associated costs, and protecting experience and knowledge

What we cover:

  • Recognising concussion in staff and knowing what to do
  • Health & Safety responsibilities and good practice
  • Strategies for successful return to work
  • Accommodations that support the concussed staff and work for the business
  • Preventing long-term impacts by supporting staff early

This training is practical, evidence-based, and tailored to your workplace context. By investing in staff wellbeing, you not only support recovery but also strengthen your organisation’s resilience.

Why this matters

Concussion is one of the most common injuries affecting working-age adults, yet it’s often invisible and easily missed. Without the right support, staff are more likely to struggle, take longer to return, or leave altogether – leading to loss of seniority, recruitment costs, and reduced productivity.

With the right understanding and strategies, workplaces can help staff recover well, stay engaged, and continue contributing their skills and knowledge. Our training gives your team the tools to recognise concussion, respond effectively, and create the best chance of a safe, supported return to work.

Trusted by organisations across health, community, and workplace sectors

Our workshop with Headway was fantastic. Nicola covered so much scope from the science of the brain and brain injuries, to sensitively speaking about brain injuries, to practical strategies for making our community gardens safe and empowering spaces for people who have experienced a brain injury. She has a wealth of knowledge that she delivered in a really accessible way, and we were able to ask questions that came from our own experience. I feel that this workshop will inform so much more of my perspective and relationships outside of just people who have had brain injuries. I would highly recommend working with Headway to any organisation, regardless of who you work with or the work you do. I think that everyone will learn something and take something significant away.

The AECTP Board were thrilled to have Stacey Mowbray – Chief Executive at Headway and Nicola Cottle, Educator and Navigator at Headway as speakers for the AECTP 2025 Conference. Their presentation on concussion was insightful, inspiring, and exceptionally well-received by our attendees.  Many of our members commented on how educational the presentation was and that Stacey and Nicola presented so well together. We have received excellent feedback, highlighting the connection both ladies made with the audience. We would highly recommend Stacey and Nicola to any organisation looking for a speaker who can motivate, educate, and leave a lasting impression on their audience.
