Making Headway: Peer support programme
What to expect
Each week focuses on a different theme related to recovery and wellbeing, guided by a trained facilitator. Sessions combine education, open discussion, and peer-to-peer support. The programme is grounded in research on the benefits of connection and incorporates the principles of Te Whare Tapa Whā – caring for body, mind, spirit, and whānau.
This is a non-clinical programme designed to build confidence, skills, and community. You’ll leave with new strategies, stronger connections, and the reassurance that you are not facing this journey alone.
Who is it for?
This programme is for people with concussion or brain injury who:
- Want to develop skills for managing life after injury
- Value connecting with others who understand their experiences
- Are interested in building confidence and community involvement
Participants should:
- Be able to give and receive peer support independently
- Commit to attending all ten weekly sessions
- Live in the Auckland region
Locations
Making Headway is delivered in community centres across Auckland, depending on demand.
